Webinar
“Potentialities
of 5G Terrestrial & Non-Terrestrial Networks for European Governmental
Users and Services”
Wednesday, 11 February
2026 - Time: 15:30–19:15 CET
In the framework of the Horizon
EU 5G-GOVSATCOM project
About
the Webinar
The upcoming webinar is
organized within the 5G-GOVSATCOM project (https://5g-govsatcom.eu/), a Horizon Europe
initiative that aims to advance the integration of 5G Non-Terrestrial Networks
(5G-NTN) into the EU’s GOVSATCOM framework. As Europe moves toward more
resilient, secure, and ubiquitous governmental communications, the convergence
of Terrestrial (TN) and Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) technologies becomes a
strategic necessity. The webinar will gather researchers, satellite operators,
MCx service developers, public authorities, and end-user communities to discuss
key 5G-GOVSATCOM developments. Participants will explore advances such as
improved X-band radio access, seamless TN–NTN handover, and platforms enabling
mission-critical services. The event will also showcase upcoming demo trials,
including maritime telemedicine and crisis-management scenarios. Overall, the
webinar aims to foster collaboration and expert dialogue toward Europe’s
next-generation secure 5G- and 6G-integrated satellite communications.
Welcome Session
The webinar opens with a brief
welcome from the 5G-GOVSATCOM coordination team, introducing the project’s
goals and its role in advancing secure 5G TN–NTN communications. This session
also outlines the day’s program and key project achievements.
Session 1- Benefits of Satellite-Enabled 5G for GOVSATCOM
Users
This session examines how
integrating NTN and TN improves resilience, coverage, and service continuity
for governmental users. Speakers will present use cases—from crisis response to
maritime operations—showing the benefits of combining satellite and terrestrial
5G in real operational scenarios.
Session 2 – Mission-Critical Services over Integrated 5G
TN-NTN Systems
This
session examines the mission-critical service platforms and capabilities that
enable secure, reliable operations over integrated TN–NTN 5G networks. Speakers
will show how MCx developers and technology providers are building
next-generation tools for emergency services, governmental communications, and
other high-reliability scenarios.
Final Roundtable - Future
Opportunities for European 5G-NTN GOVSATCOM Services
The final roundtable will gather
all speakers and project representatives to reflect on the webinar’s insights
and discuss the future of secure connectivity in Europe. The discussion aims to
identify priorities and pathways to strengthen Europe’s resilience in
mission-critical communications.
